72 ELLIS HOTEL

72 Ellis Street is a proposed 11-story boutique hotel adjacent to Union Square and the iconic cable car turntable at Powell and Market streets in downtown San Francisco. TS Studio is currently commissioned for streetscape design, bio-retention gardens on the second-level terrace, and public space on the rooftop terrace. As part of the 69 San Francisco POPOS (privately-owned public open space) network, the rooftop garden is designated as one of the six public roof terraces in downtown. The garden frames adjacent urban views towards Market Street, the San Francisco Bay along the Eastern waterfront, and Saint Ignatius Church by Golden Gate Park, and provides casual seating and public lounging during the day, while transforming into an event lounge and private garden in the evenings.
