CUPERTINO PLAY

Against the over 60ft matured redwood buffer of I-280 at the foothill of Mt. Bielawski in Cupertino, a (0.7 acre/30,000 sqft) triangular site is framed by two street-ends, featuring a playground for multiple children age groups.  A series of swooping landforms create play areas to encapsulate the energetic movements and creative spirit for active and passive activities for kids. From rolling slopes to meadows, climbing cubes to hills, exciting swings to tunnels, and junior soccer to senior croquet, there is always shaded seating for adults to rest while keeping an eye on the kids.  A rocky plant boundary provides a safety buffer, as well as, maintains the visual transparency into the park. Along with the existing basketball court, Hop Scotch, and pools at the clubhouse, Arioso Community park is a precious, small, public open-space in this high-tech neighborhood adjacent to Apple Park.
