LAWRENCE HALL OF SCIENCE

As the newest addition to the outdoor exhibit of Forces that Shape the Bay at the Lawrence Hall of Science at Berkeley, the All-gender Bathroom & Native Garden provides much-needed amenities for all visitors - people, birds, and insects. In the name and the spirit of the site, the design engages and highlights the natural elements of sunlight, water, and geology reinterpreting the natural forces into an intimate scale for people to utilize and observe. The garden plants, carefully curated are native to the specific site, rain, elevation, and climate, with no supplemental irrigation required.   Due to the proximity to the bedrock on site, all site drainage is re-captured into a cobble micro-creek that provides seasonal supplemental water to native plants.
